Installing a Bed

In order to maximize space inside the van, we wanted to make sure our bed didn’t take up too much room. We selected a bed frame from RB Components┬áso that we could float the bed above the flooring. The bed is made of metal instead of wood and therefore also does not require slats. Another benefit to this bed frame is that we can remove the panels for working inside the van or converting it to a living room space.

We welded in a flat piece of steel behind the wood, then sandwiched the aluminum rail on top of the wood and screwed it into the steel rail that we had welded in. The steel is what will keep the bed floating.
